Comment on Efficacy Evaluation Methods of Chinese Medicine in Treating Diarrhea of Tumor Patients after Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy
The researchers summarized the existing evaluation methods of therapeutic efficiency about TCM treating diarrhea after radiotherapy and chemotherapy. They thought that the most frequently-used evaluation methods of therapeutic efficiency at present are mainly calculation and comparison about kinds of rates
such as cure rate
effective rate. Current practice uses the standard of western medicine to evaluate illness degree
symptom scores of TCM
evaluation according to the symptoms
signs and corresponding results from laboratory and imageological examination and so on. At present
evaluation methods of therapeutic efficiency have the following problems: using rates such as cure rate and effective rate instead of the original data influences authenticity and scientificity of research;unable to reflect features and advantages of TCM treatment; existing one-sidedness and lacking of pertinence; as well as ignoring the evaluation of security. The researchers thought that combining with modern medical laboratory tests and imaging analysis
cooperating with evaluation of patients’ survival quality and attaching great importance to the evaluation of security are more comprehensive evaluation method of Chinese medicine in treating diarrhea after radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
