Multi-centered,Randomized Controlled Trial of Chinese Medicine Integrated Scheme in Treating Protrusion of Lumbar Intervertebral Disc
Objective To evaluate the clinical effect and safety of Chinese medicine integrated scheme in treating protrusion of lumbar intervertebral disc. Methods Totally 500 cases of patients with protrusion of lumbar intervertebral disc from 6 hospitals were randomly divided into test group and control group with 250 cases in each.Test group adopted Chinese medicine integrated scheme for treatment
featuring syndrome differentiation by stages of protrusion of lumbar intervertebral disc. Control group adopted traditional manipulation with traction treatment. Both followed treatment for 30 days. Respectively evaluated scores of Japanese Orthopedic Association( JOA) low back pain rating scale
Oswestry back pain scores of modified Chinese version( ODI) and visual analogue scale( VAS)scores of two groups on the 10 th
20th
30 th day and 6 months after finishing treatment. Evaluated the clinical effect and the adverse effect of the two groups in the 30 th day during treatment. Observed back pain recurrence rate 6months after finishing treatment. Results Total effective rate of test group was 97. 0%
cure-remarkable-effectiveness rate was 92. 0%; Total effective rate of control group was 88. 3%
cure-remarkable-effectiveness rate was70. 4%. Test group was superior to the control group( P < 0. 05). JOA score of patients in two groups after treatment and follow up 6 month remarkably increased compared with that before treatment. ODI
VAS scores remarkably decreased compared with that before treatment. Lumbar motilities in all directions all remarkably improved compared with that before treatment( P < 0. 05). Test group was superior to the control group( P < 0. 05). Conclusion Chinese medicine integrated scheme treating protrusion of lumbar intervertebral disc could improve clinical effect and decrease recurrence rate
