Objective To explore the efficacy and safety of Baixiao Poison-removing Lotion in the treatment of postoperative anal margin edema in mixed hemorrhoids. Methods Totally 120 cases of mixed hemorrhoids patients with postoperative anal margin edema were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group

with 60 cases in each group. The treatment group and the control group were fumigated and washed with Baixiao Poison-removing Lotion and 1 ∶ 5000 potassium permanganate solution respectively

1 time per day

7 days for 1 course. For both groups

the volume score of the anal verge edema

the pain score

the volume of the anal verge edema

the clinical efficacy and safety were observed. Results In the treatment group

the clinical total effective case is 57（ 95%）

while in the control group

the clinical total effective case is 50（ 83. 33%）. The difference was statistically significant（ P < 0. 05）

the treatment group was better. After treatment

the volume of the anal verge edema and the pain scores of the anal verge on the 3rd

7th day were significantly lower than those before the treatment in both groups（ P < 0. 05 or P < 0. 01）; On the 3rd

5th and 7th day after treatment

the scores of the treatment group were significantly lower than that of the control group（ P < 0. 05 or P < 0. 01）. After treatment

the anal verge edema volume of both groups were significantly reduced（ P < 0. 05 or P < 0. 01）

and the anal verge edema volume of the treatment group was significantly smaller than that of the control group（ P < 0. 01）. Conclusion Baixiao Poisonremoving Lotion seems to have good efficacy in the treatment of postoperative anal margin edema of mixed hemorrhoids. It can effectively relieve the edema of the anal verge

ease the pain of the anal verge

and has no obvious adverse reactions.
