Different total KI scores and scores of five-type personality in menopausal women with different symptoms were analyzed. Results Three hundred and seventeen valid questionnaires were returned. Results of KI scales showed there were 15 subjects with no symptom( 4. 73%)

159 subjects with 5- 8 symptoms( 50. 16%)
and 63 subjects with9- 13 symptoms( 19. 87%). The incidence of depression( 80. 44%)
vertigo( 76. 03%) and insomnia( 70. 03%)were the top three among 13 symptoms in KI scale. Taiyin scores of subjects with total KI score>14 were much higher than that of subjects with total KI score ≤ 14( P<0. 01). There was no significant difference in other personality characteristics among the subjects( P>0. 05). Taiyang personality score was much higher in subjects with hectic fever and perspiration than that in subjects without those symptoms( P<0. 05). Shaoyang personality score in subjects with depression
vertigo
intercourse pain and urinary system symptoms was much lower than that in subjects without those symptoms( P<0. 05 or P<0. 01). Yin-Yang balance personality score in subjects excitable
with vertigo or intercourse pain was much lower than that in subjects without those symptoms( P<0. 05 or P<0. 01).Shaoyin personality score in excitable subjects was much lower than that in subjects who was not excitable( P <0. 01). There were no significant differences in Taiyin personality scores between subjects with and without fatigue and skin formication( P>0. 05).
