The Enlightenment of Traditional Chinese Medicine: Thoughts of Reading Where Medicine Goes
the development of modern medicine faces deep-seated contradictions that are difficult to solve. The authors think people can learn wisdom from traditional medicine to solve these contradictions
especially from Chinese medicine. Chinese medicine believes psychosomatic monism
and emphasizes holism and synthesis.Chinese medicine proposes therapeutic principle of "suiting measures to season
local condition and individuality"
and hold that physicians should flexibly use technological or non-technological means to treat patients. The authors also insist on "humane art"that medicine must be on the premise of life bearing finiteness. Chinese medicine focuses on population health and pays attention to "preventive treatment of disease". Chinese medicine also plays advantages of relatively low medical costs to achieve the medical goal of "everyone will have access to basic health care". These ideas have important reference value to overcome internal predicament met by modern medicine and to guide medical development direction.
