Professor HU Yinqi’s Experience in Treating Scleroderma
Prof. HU Yinqi holds that scleroderma has close relationship with phlegm and stasis obstruction. He considers that phlegm and stasis would be involved in the whole forming stage of scleroderma. Promoting blood circulation for removing blood stasis and promoting Qi
as the basic method in the treatment
should be used in the early stage. Herbs of mild and removing blood stasis are mostly used
combined with herbs softening hard mass and removing phlegm. Thus Qi and blood circulation is promoted and deterioration is prevented. About Raynaud phenomenon commonly seen in scleroderma patients
Prof. HU emphasizes activating Yang and removing obstruction in collaterals. Then Yang Qi flows and meridians are unblocked
so that Qi and blood could reach the ending part of the body.Besides
according to Chinese medicine principle of syndrome differentiation and treatment
Prof. HU is good at combination with disease differentiation and herbs. He is skilled in using herbs with effect proved by modern pharmacological studies to treat scleroderma.
