Impact of Zuogui Pill( 左归丸),Yougui Pill( 右归丸) and Their Decomposed Recipes on the Expression of Renal Alkaline Phosphatase and Osteocalcin in Ovariectomized Osteoporosis Model Rats
Objective To explore the possible mechanism of Zuogui Pill( 左归丸) and Yougui Pill( 右归丸) in the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis( PMOP). Methods Ninety Sprague Dawley female rats were randomized into the blank control group
the sham operation group
the model group
the progynova group
the Zuogui Pill group
the Yougui Pill group
the common drug group
the nourishing Yin group
and the invigorating Yang group( n = 10 in each group). Rats in other groups were established models of PMOP by bilateral ovariectomy except rats in the sham operation group and the blank control group. After models were established for 1 week
the progynova group
the Zuogui Pill group
the Yougui Pill group
the common drug group
the nourishing Yin group and the invigorating Yang group were given corresponding drugs by gavage
with the dose of 0. 36 mg /( kg·d)
18. 9 g /( kg·d)
20. 52 g /( kg·d)
15. 12 g /( kg·d)
12. 96 g /( kg·d) and 8. 1 g /( kg·d)
respectively for 12 weeks. The blank control group
the sham operation group and the model group were given equivalent distilled water by gavage for the same time. Alkaline phosphatase( ALP)
bone gla-protein( BGP) mRNA and protein expression in renal tissue of rats in all groups were detected. Bone mineral density( BMD) of whole femur was detected. Results Compared with the blank control group
renal tissue ALP
BGP mRNA
protein expression and BMD of whole femur decreased in the model group( P < 0. 01). Compare with the model group
renal tissue ALP
BGP mRNA
protein expression and BMD of whole femur in all medication groups increased by different level( P < 0. 05 or P < 0. 01). The most effective groups were the progynova group and the Zuogui Pill group. Conclusion Zuogui Pill
Yougui Pill and their decomposed recipes might treat PMOP effectively by improving the expression of renal tissue ALP and BGP in ovariectomized osteoporosis model rats. Zuogui Pill is more effective.
