Clinical Observation on Modified Huatan Huoxue Tongluo Decoction( 化痰活血通络汤) as Adjuvant Therapy in Treating 30 Ischemic Stroke Convalescent Stage Patients with Syndrome of Phlegm and Blood Stasis Blocking Collaterals
Objective To observe the clinical effect of modified Huatan Huoxue Tongluo Decoction( 化痰活血通络汤
MHHTD) as the adjuvant therapy on patients with syndrome of phlegm and blood stasis blocking collaterals of ischemic stroke in convalescent stage. Methods Sixty patients were randomized into treatment group( 30 cases)and the control group( 30 cases). The control group was given basic treatment of western medicine and acupuncture. The treatment group added one dose MHHTD every day. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks. Compared the changes of patients’ Chinese medicine syndrome efficacy
scores of Chinese medicine syndrome
scores of national institutes of health stroke scale( NIHSS) and scores of activities of daily living in both groups. Results The total effective rate of Chinese medicine syndrome efficacy in the treatment group was 96. 66%
superior to 86. 67% in the control group( P < 0. 05). The scores of NIHSS and the scores of Chinese medicine syndrome of patients in both groups after treatment decreased
while the scores of activities of daily living increased( P < 0. 05). The scores of NIHSS and the scores of Chinese medicine syndrome in the treatment group after treatment were much lower than those in the control group
while the scores of activities of daily living were much higher( P < 0. 05). Conclusion MHHTD
when used as the adjuvant therapy of syndrome of phlegm and blood stasis blocking collaterals of ischemic stroke in convalescent stage
could improve patients’ Chinese medicine clinical symptoms
