Objective To summarize commonly used herbs and herbs compatibility law in treating rheumatoid arthritis bone destruction. Methods The authors reviewed the related literature of Chinese herbal prescriptions treating rheumatoid arthritis bone destruction from China Biology Medicine disc and Chinese Journal Full-text Database. Made one dimensional frequency and two dimensional relationship analysis on all herbs in included literature by data slicing algorithm method based on sensitive keywords frequency statistics. High frequency herbs were processed visually. Core herbs compatibility combinations were extracted. Results There were 81 papers included in total

including 46 prescriptions and 129 herbs. The herb used alone with top frequency was Huangqi [Radix Astragali seu Hedysari]（ 16 times

Baishao [Radix Paeoniae Alba] and Gancao [Radix Glycyrrhizae] second（ 15 times

32. 61%）. The compatibility combination with top frequency was Baishao-Gancao（ 9 times

the herb with highest weight was Gancao followed by Duhuo[Radix Angelicae Pubescentis]

Danshen [Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae] and Danggui prescription. Conclusion Effective Chinese herbal prescription treating rheumatoid arthritis bone destruction were based on herbs of benefiting Qi and nourishing blood and aided by herbs of invigorating kidney

activating blood circulation

as well as dispelling wind and dampness. The treatment thought of treating both manifestation（ eliminating pathogen） and root cause of disease（ strengthening vital Qi） was showed.
