WANG Chende’s Experience in Treating Rheumatism[J]. Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2016, 57(13): 1096-1098.DOI: 10.13288/j.11-2166/r.2016.13.005.
Doctor WANG Chengde combines disease differentiation and syndrome differentiation in treating rheumatism from both the macroscopic view and microscopic view. He believed that Bi-syndrome is caused by root deficiency
and the main treating principle is to strengthen the immune function and to tonify the vital-Qi. WANG emphasizes the importance of dampness in the developing
outcome and prognosis of rheumatism
and also pays attention to the role of spleen and stomach in rheumatism. He holds that
Bi-syndrome is from inside
associated with dampness
and often combined with stasis. In treatment
he strengthens the tonifing the vital-Qi
nourishing spleen and dissolving dampness
detoxifing and removing the stasis
as well as warming Yang and dispersing coldness. He is good at applying classic prescriptions and toxic herbs. Doctor WANG points out that it is necessary to use larger doses of herbs in treating rheumatism.
