Clinical Observation on 50 Cases of Advanced Gastric Carcinoma Treated with Shenling Baizhu Powder(参苓白术散) Combined TS Chemotherapy Regimen
Objective To observe the clinical effect of Shenling Baizhu Powder combined with chemotherapy regimen of paclitaxel liposome + Tegafur Gimeracil Otera( TS regimen) in the treatment of advanced gastric carcinoma. Methods One hundred patients with advanced gastric carcinoma were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group
with 50 cases in each group. The control group was given chemotherapy with TS regimen that was intravenous drip with paclitaxel liposome
75 mg / m
2
on the 1st day and the 8th day
and oral administration of Tegafur Gimeracil Otera capsule
80 mg / m
2
from the 1st day to the 14 th day
once in the morning and once at night. The regimen took 14 days as one cycle
and totally four cycles of treatment were given. Two days before each chemotherapy cycle
the treatment group started to take modified Shenling Baizhu Powder
one dose daily
for 12 days during chemotherapy
totally for four cycles. Short-term effects
quality of life
and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups after the chemotherapy. Results There was no statistically significant difference in the total effective rate and the clinical benefit rate of short-term effects between two groups( P
>
0. 05). The total improvement rate of quality of life was 50% in the treatment group
and 36% in the control group. The quality of life in the treatment group was better than that in the control group( P
<
0. 05). After treatment
there were significant differences in incidence of nausea
vomiting
diarrhea
and pain between the two groups( P
<
0. 05)
and those in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group. After treatment
there were no significant differences in incidence of myelosuppression and hepatic function damage between the two groups( P
>
0. 05). Conclusion Shenling Baizhu Powder combined with TS chemotherapy regimen can improve quality of life of the patients with advanced gastric carcinoma and reduce the incidence of adverse reactions from chemotherapy.
