Objective To explore the medication rules of Professor Lin Lizhu in treating primary bronchogenic carcinoma of lung（ lung cancer for short）. Methods Lung cancer cases treated at Prof. Lin’s clinic in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine from March of 2014 to August of 2015 were taken as the research subjects. Herbs used in prescriptions were extracted to build a prescription database. Herbs and the using frequency of core herbs combinations were calculated. The relation coefficient between herbs was analyzed with association rules. Based on modified mutual information method and complex system entropy clustering

cluster analysis of core herbs combinations was carried out. Then new prescriptions were mined by unsupervised hierarchical entropy clustering. Results Totally 227 cases were included

with 227 prescriptions and 135 herbs used. Top 3herbs of high using frequency were Hongdoushan [Taxus chinensis

Taoren [Semen Persicae

桃仁]（ 172） and Banxia [Rhizoma Pinelliae

半夏]（ 162）. Top 3 herb combinations of high using frequency were TaorenHongdoushan（ 134）

Taoren-Jiangcan（ 127） and Banxia-Hongdoushan（ 127）. There were 25 pairs of related herbs with confidence level ≥ 0. 96. With association degree of 8 and punishment degree of 3
