Clinical Observation on the Acupoint Application with Warming Yang to Reduce Phlegm Treating 110Patients with the Stable Phase of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Objective To evaluate clinical effects of the acupoint application with warming Yang reduce phlegm treating the stable phase of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease( COPD). Methods The researchers selected220 patients with COPD in community and randomly divided them into treatment group and control group with 110 in each. The Control group was treated by conventional western medicine. The control group
the treatment group was given the acupoint application with warming Yang reduce phlegm aditionally. The acupoint application treatment began from the 1 st day to the 3 rd day of the lunar three periods of the hot season. The acupoint application treatment continued for 6
8 h every day. The course of treatment was 2 years in both groups. After treatment
the researchers compared the curative effects of Chinese medical syndrome in the two groups and evaluated Chinese medical symptom
living quality and lung function in the two groups before and after treatment. Results The total effectiveness of Chinese medical syndrome was 90. 9 % in the treatment group
but was 75. 4 % in the control group. The curative effect of Chinese medical syndrome in the treatment group was much better than that in the control group( P
<
0. 01).After treatment
the scores about cough and expectoration of Chinese medical symptom in the treatment group were much lower than those before treatment. And the scores about expectoration decreased much more obviously than those at the same time point in the control group( P
<
0. 05). After treatment
the scores about physiological function
vitality
social function
emotional function
mental health and overall health of living quality in the treatment group were much higher than those before treatment. And the scores about physiological function
emotional function and mental health in the control group were higher than those before treatment( P
<

the scores about pain of body
vitality
social function
mental health and overall health in the treatment group increased more obviously than those in the control group( P
<
0. 05). Before and after treatment
the compared differences of lung function between and within the two groups had no statistical significance( P
>
0. 05). Conclusion The acupoint application with warming Yang reduce phlegm combined conventional therapy may improve the symptoms and living quality of patients with COPD. It’s effects were better than the simple routine therapy.
