Correlation of Depressive Mood and Encephalic Region in Liver Qi Stagnation Syndrome Patients with Premenstrual Syndromes
Objective To study the relationship between depressive mood and primary regulation encephalic region of liver Qi stagnation syndrome patients with premenstrual syndromes( PMS). Methods Fifteen liver Qi stagnation syndrome patients with PMS and 15 healthy female college students were collected. They filled in the Self rating Depression Scale( SDS) on 3- 7 days before menstruation. SDS total scores and 4 factors( mental factor
somatic disorder
psychomotor disturbance and psychological disorder of depression) scores were calculated. Activation intensity of brain regions of interest( ROI) was analyzed by functional magnetic resonance. SDS total scores
scores of 4 factors and ROI activation intensity were made correlation analysis. Results Activation intensity of brain frontal lobe in the patient group negatively related to the somatic disorder factor score of SDS( r =- 0. 4986
P <0. 05). Activation intensity of brain frontal lobe in the control group was positively correlated with the somatic disorder factor score of SDS( r = 0. 3892
P < 0. 05). No correlation was found between cerebellum activation intensity and SDS total scores
scores of 4 factors. Conclusion The correlation between PMS liver Qi stagnation syndrome patients’ SDS somatic disorder factor and frontal lobe was significant
which meant that depressive mood of PMS liver Qi stagnation syndrome patients was closely related to frontal lobe. Whether depressive mood was regulated to cerebellum region needed further study.
