SHEN Shuwen’s Experience in Treating Esophageal Cancer
This article introduces SHEN Shuwen’ s experience in treating esophageal cancer. When the patients have difficulty swallowing
the treatment should focus on nourishing and descending stomach Qi
as well as detoxification and resolving stasis. He holds that "nourishing could help swallow"
and at the early stage
resolving phlegm is used for chokes. When it is difficult to swallow
toxin stasis should be added. Regurgitation is treated with descending Qi to stop vomiting. Pain is dealt with worm medicine to dredge meridians and detoxify. At advanced stage
the cancer lesions are deeply rooted and stomach is fragile
the therapy should be nourishing spleen and stomach
