Problems and Suggestions of Using Chinese Patent Medicine for Clearing Heat in Clinical Practice in Pediatrics
there are some doctors who use Chinese patent medicine for clearing heat inappropriately when treating pediatric patients. Those medicines should be used under the guide of Chinese medicine theory based on syndrome differentiation. It should be paid attention that the conclusion of pharmacological experiment could not replace the effect of Chinese patent medicine in guiding clinical treatment. Misapplication of Chinese patent medicine for clearing heat may cause problems
such as spleen and stomach damage
inducing other diseases
repeated using single herbs
increasing incidence of side effect. The authors suggest that a rational administration system of Chinese patent medicine including medicine for clearing heat for pediatric patients should be established. This system should include the education and training of rational administration of Chinese patent medicine
reviews on Chinese patent medicine prescription
evaluation on typical cases
re-evaluation system of Chinese patent medicine and side effect monitoring system
information service of rational administration of Chinese patent medicine
and strengthening the construction of medical software and system
