Clinical Observation on 36 Cases of Allergic Rhinitis Treated by Heat-sensitie Moxibustion
Objective To observe therapeutic effect of heat-sensitie moxibustion on patients with allergic rhinitis( AR). Methods Randomly divided 72 patients into control group and treatment group
with 36 cases each. The treatment group was treated by heat-sensitie moxibustion
once every other day. The control group was treated with Ephedrine nasal drops
2 times per day
3- 5 drops each time. Both groups took 10 days as one course
totally for 2courses
with an interval of 2 days between the two courses. The total grading score of symptoms and signs in both groups before and after treatment were observed
and the Rhinoconjunctivitis Quality of Life Questionnaire( RQLQ)scale was used to evaluate the quality of life in the treatment group. The clinical curative effect was evaluated after treatment. Results After treatment
the total grading score of symptoms and signs in both groups were significantly lower than those before treatment( P < 0. 01)
and the decline of the treatment group was more significant than that of the control group( P < 0. 01). The quality of life scores after treatment in both groups had significantly lower than those before treatment( P < 0. 05 or P < 0. 01). The differences in the score of eye symptoms and emotional responses had no statistical significance in the control group( P > 0. 05). The nasal symptom score in the treatment group after treatment was significantly lower than that in the control group( P < 0. 01). In the treatment group
15 cases were markedly effective
15 cases effective
6 cases ineffective
and the total effective rate was 83. 33%; those in the control group were respectively 8 cases
16 cases effective
12 cases and 66. 67%. The difference between groups was statistically significant( P < 0. 05). Conclusion The clinical curative effect of heat-sensitie moxibustion in the treatment of AR is remarkable
