Treating Bone Marrow Suppression after Chemotherapy by Boosting Qi-Nourishing Blood and Fortifying the Spleen-Supplementing the Kidney
Bone marrow suppression after chemotherapy is a common syndrome for patients receiving chemotherapy. It is considered being connected to the spleen and kidney closely in Chinese medicine. Combined with the study results in modern Chinese medicine and integrative medicine oncology and the clinical experiences on treating tumors in integrative medicine
the authors suggest adjusting patients’ status combined with preventing or reducing bone marrow suppression occurrence. They advocate boosting Qi and nourishing blood first in clinic
at the same time fortifying the spleen and harmonizing the stomach and supplementing the kidney and consolidating the root. Also
the four diagnostic methods to syndrome differentiation need to be combined with disease differentiation by stages
to reduce the bone marrow suppression and gastrointestinal reactions after chemotherapy.
