Pulmonary hypertension is one of the refractory complications of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis( IPS).By the physiological and pathological features of five Zang organs in Chinese medicine
the location of IPF combined with pulmonary hypertension is in the lung
while the spleen
the kidney and the heart could be involved. The main pathogenesis is lung
spleen
kidney and heart Qi deficiency as well as heart and kidney Yang deficiency
and the latter one plays a more important role. Qi deficiency
blood stagnation
Yang deficiency
cold congealing
blood stasis
and water diffusion could all affect the movement of fluids and blood
while Qi deficiency and Yang deficiency both promote the generation of blood stasis
which is throughout the whole course of the disease. From the view of boosting Qi
warming Yang
invigorating blood and dissolving stasis
pulmonary hypertension could be effectively prevented or alleviated in IPF patients.
