Objective To observe the clinic effect and safety of Yanshi Jiangzhi Formula（ 颜氏降脂方） in treating hyperlipemia. Methods Randomly divided 80 patients with hyperlipemia into a treatment and a control group

with 40 cases in each. Patients in both groups were all intervened with exercise and diet. The treatment group took Yanshi Jiangzhi Formula

one dose per day. The control group took simvastatin pills 20 mg

once every night. Both groups took medicine for 12 weeks. Measured blood lipids including total cholesterol（ TC）

triglyceride（ TG）

highdensity lipoprotein cholesterol（ HDL-C）

and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol（ LDL-C）

stool routine test plus occult blood test

liver and kidney function test

and electrocardiogram before and after treatment. After treatment

evaluated the clinical efficacy and recorded the adverse reactions. Results The total effective rate in the treatment group was 82. 5% while that in the control group was 77. 5%. The difference had no statistical significance（ P > 0. 05）. TC

LDL-C and HDL-C levels of the two groups after treatment all remarkably improved（ P < 0. 01）. But there was no statistically significant difference in each index between two groups（ P > 0. 05）. There were 4 cases in the control group with ALT increase after treatment

but the increase was not 2times more than upper limit of normal value. There were 5 cases of abdominal distension

2 cases of dry mouth. There was no remarkable adverse reaction in the treatment group. Conclusion The effect of Yanshi Jiangzhi Formula on lowing blood lipids was similar to simvastatin pills and the safety of Yanshi Jiangzhi Formula was superior to simvastatin pills.
