Effect of Chinese Herbs for Clearing Liver and Nourishing Kidney on Serum Inflammatory Factors in High-Fat Fed Spontaneous Hypertensive Rats
Objective To explore the possible functional mechanism of clearing liver and nourishing kidney Chinese herbs in treating primary hypertension with metabolic disorder. Methods Randomly divided 18 spontaneous hypertensive rats into normal group
model group and Chinese medicine group
with 6 rats in each. The normal group was given 0. 5% sodium cellulose placebo 1ml for gavage in addition to standard diet. The model group was given0. 5% sodium cellulose placebo 1ml for gavage in addition to high fat diet. The Chinese medicine group was given suspension of clearing liver and nourishing kidney Chinese herbs 22. 5 g/( kg·d) for gavage in addition to high fat diet. Each group was gavaged for 8 weeks. Measured the levels of angiotensinⅡ( AngⅡ)
tumor necrosis factor α( TNF-α)
interleukin 6( IL-6)
monocyte chemoattractant protein 1( MCP-1)
and human plasminogen activator inhibitor 1( PAI-1) at the 4th and the 8th week of gavage. Results After being fed with high fat diet
serum AngⅡ
TNF-α
IL-6 and PAI-1 levels of rats in the model group all remarkably increased compared with those of the normal group. Compared with the model group
serum AngⅡ
TNF-α
IL-6 and PAI-1 levels of rats in the Chinese medicine group remarkably decreased after receiving clearing liver and nourishing kidney Chinese herbs. Among them
the difference of IL-6 level between the Chinese medicine and the normal group was not statistically significant( P >0. 05)
with TNF-α remarkably lower than the normal group and PAI-1 remarkably higher than the normal group( P < 0. 05). Conclusion Chinese herbs for clearing liver and nourishing kidney could inhibit expression of inflammatory factors in high-fat fed spontaneous hypertensive rats. This might be one of the functional mechanism in treating hypertension with metabolic disorders.
