Clinical Observation on 70 Cases Unstable Angina of Yang Deficiency and Blood Stasis Type both Internally and Externally Treated by Warming Yang and Invigorating Blood Methods
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of treating unstable angina of Yang deficiency and blood stasis type with both internal and external warming Yang and invigorating blood methods. Methods Totally 140 patients with unstable angina were randomized into treatment group and control group with 70 cases in each group. The control group was administered conventional western medicine and oral Dingtong Jiuxin Tang (定痛救心汤
DJT) plus external blank patch
while the treatment group was given conventional western medicine
oral DJT and external Xintong Paste (心痛膏).Both groups were treated for 14 days. Before and after treatment
the researchers observed main symptoms
electrocardiogram (ECG)
Chinese medicine syndrome score
the withdrawal or reduction of nitroglycerin
blood liqid [including total cholesterol (TC)
triglyceride (TG)
high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) ]
left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) improvement and adverse reactions in both groups. Both groups were followed up for six months. Results The total effective rates for main symptoms and ECG in the treatment group were 84.3% and 77.1% respectively
significantly higher than 68.6% and 64.3% in the control group (P < 0.05).The Chinese medicine syndrome scores in both groups decreased after treatment
and the decrease in the treatment group was more obvious (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01).In the treatment group
the withdrawal or reduction rate of nitroglycerin was 80.0%
significantly higher than the65.7% in the control group (P < 0.05).The levels of TC
TG and LDL-C in both groups were lower than those before treatment (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01)
and the treatment group was superior to the control group (P < 0.05).LVEF was significantly higher in the treatment group than in the control group after treatment (P < 0.05).There was no significant adverse reaction in both groups. The incidence of adverse cardiac events in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05).Conclusion The method of warming Yang and invigorating blood both internally and externally for unstable angina of Yang deficiency and blood stasis type seems effective
