Objective To observe the curative effect of Zhongyao Dongyuan Formula（中药动员方） in assisting chemotherapy plus recombinant human granulocyte colony stimulating factor（rh G-CSF） in mobilization of peripheral blood stem cells in autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation（auto-HSCT）. Methods Ten patients with hematological tumor having received auto-HSCT were given Zhongyao Dongyuan Formula

one dose daily

in addition to chemotherapy plus rh G-CSF for peripheral blood stem cells mobilization. Zhongyao Dongyuan Formula was taken during the whole course until the stem cell collection was complete. Results of the patient’s mobilization and collection were observed. Time for hematopoietic reconstitution was recorded

and adverse reactions were observed. Results In 10 cases

stem cells of 7 cases were collected successfully at first collection

and those of another 3 cases were collected successfully at the second collection. The number of mononuclear cells collected at the first collection from each of patients was（6. 92 ± 3. 32） × 108/kg

and the number of CD34+cells collected at the first collection was（3. 66 ±2. 50） × 106/kg. The median time of granulocyte implantation was 10 days and that of platelet implantation was12. 50 days in all patients after auto-HSCT. There was no serious adverse reactions and infection during mobilization and collection process. Conclusion In auto-HSCT

Zhongyao Dongyuan Formula assisting chemotherapy plus rh G-CSF could reinforce the effect of peripheral blood stem cells mobilization

and achieve hematopoietic reconstruction in a short period of time

with good safety.
