Chinese Medicine Hot Compress Therapy for Treatment of 50 Chronic Stable Angina Pectoris Patients with Pattern of Yin Cold Congelation and Stagnation: A Retrospective Cohort Study
Objective To evaluate clinical efficacy of Chinese medicine hot compress therapy in the treatment of chronic stable angina pectoris with pattern of Yin cold congelation and stagnation. Methods A retrospective cohort study was conducted to collect hospitalized patients with chronic stable angina pectoris in the Department of Cardiology
Affiliated Hospital of Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine from January 2014 to January 2015 through the hospital electronic medical record system. Fifty patients who accepted Chinese medicine hot compress therapy and conventional western medicine therapy were selected as the exposure group and 49 patients who only accepted conventional western medicine therapy were non-exposed group. The attack time and duration of angina pectoris
electrocardiogram outcome and Chinese medicine syndrome scores were compared between groups before and after treatment
and the curative effects in angina pectoris
electrocardiogram and Chinese medicine syndrome. Results The curative effect of angina pectoris was better in the exposure group than in the non-exposed group(P < 0. 05) and the frequency and duration of angina pectoris in the exposure group were decreased than those in the non-exposed group(P < 0. 01).The total effective rate of electrocardiogram was 94. 00%(45/50) in the exposure group and 71. 43%(35/49) in the non-exposed group
the difference was statistically significant(P < 0. 05). The total effective rate of Chinese medicine syndrome was 98. 00%(49/50) in the exposure group and 81. 63%(40/49) in the non-exposed group
the difference was statistically significant(P < 0. 05). There was no serious adverse reaction during the treatment of the two groups. Conclusion Chinese medicine hot compress therapy seems to have good clinical efficacy in the treatment of chronic stable angina pectoris. It could significantly reduce the time of attack and duration of angina pectoris and improve the electrocardiogram and clinical symptoms.
