Objective To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of Shengjing Tongluo Zanyu Decoction in the treatment of idiopathic asthenospermia with syndrome of kidney deficiency and blood stasis. Methods One hundred and twenty patients with idiopathic asthenospermia were randomly divided into treatment group and control group

with 60 cases in each group. Treatment group was given Shengjing Tongluo Zanyu Decoction orally

one dose daily

taking separately in the morning and evening. Control group was given Wuzi Yanzong soft capsule（ 五子衍宗软胶囊）orally

three times a day. Control group was also given Qingmai Tongluo pills（ 清脉通络丸）

10 g each time and three times a day. The clinical efficacy and the curative effect of single symptom were evaluated in the two groups after 12-week continuous treatment. The sperm activity of Grade A and Grade（ A + B）

sperm motility rate

the speed of sperm linear movement and the symptom score of Chinese medicine were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results The total effective rate of treatment group was 89. 47%（ 51/57）

which was better than that of control group（ 81. 82%

45/55）（ P < 0. 05）

and the total effective rate of each single Chinese medicine symptom in treatment group was better than that in control group（ P < 0. 05）. After treatment

sperm motility rate

the speed of sperm linear movement and the symptom score of Chinese medicine in the two groups were better than those before treatment

and those in treatment group were better than those in control group（ P < 0. 01）. There was no obvious adverse reaction in both two groups.Conclusion Shengjing Tongluo Zanyu Decoction seems to have accurate curative effect in the treatment of idiopathic asthenospermia with syndrome of kidney deficiency and blood stasis. It could effectively improve the sperm activity and motility rate with good safety.
