Clinical Observation on 31 Cases of Subliminal Depression in College Students Treated with Chinese Medicine Emotional Induction Program
Objective To observe the effect of emotional induction program constructed under Chinese medicine emotional counterbalance theory in the treatment of subliminal depression in college students. Methods From October to December
2016
undergraduates from Liangxiang campus of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine were selected as subjects. Thirty one patients with subliminal depression(treatment group) and 36 subjects with non-subliminal depression(normal group) were enrolled in the study. The treatment group was induced by the combination of comedy film editing and emotion-related memories. The time of inducing joy emotion related events was 20
30 min.The scores of joy
sorrow and anxiety were calculated by "emotional state questionnaire"before and after emotion induction respectively. The scores of joy
sorrow and anxiety were calculated in the normal group at the enrollment. Results Compared with those in the normal group
the score of joy was lower before intervention and the scores of sorrow and anxiety were higher before intervention in the treatment group(P
<
0. 05 or P
<
0. 01). The score of joy emotion in the treatment group after intervention was significantly higher than that in the normal group after intervention and that in the treatment group before intervention(P
<
0. 05 or P
<
0. 01). After intervention
the score of sorrow emotion in the treatment group was still higher than that in the normal group(P
<
0. 05). There was no significant difference between the scores of sorrow emotion after and before intervention in the treatment group(P
>
0. 05).The score of anxiety emotion in the treatment group after intervention was significantly lower than that before intervention(P
<
0. 01). After intervention
there was no significant difference in the scores of anxiety emotion between the treatment group and the normal group(P
>
0. 05). Conclusion Chinese medicine emotional induction program might increase joy emotion level and decrease anxiety emotion level of college students with subliminal depression
and it seems to have limited effect on the adjustment of sad emotion.
