Evaluation on Clinical Effect of Zishen Yisui Decoction( 滋肾益髓方) as Adjuvant Therapy Treating Parkinson’s Disease of Marrow-reservoir Deficiency Type: with Parkinson’s Disease Chinese Medicine Quality of Life Scale
Objective To evaluate the efficacy of Zishen Yisui Decoction( 滋肾益髓方) as adjuvant therapy with Parkinson’ s Disease Chinese Medicine Quality of Life Scale( draft)( PD-QOL) in Parkinson’ s disease( PD) of marrow-reservoir deficiency type. Methods Sixty cases of PD patients of marrow sea deficiency type were randomized into treatment group and control group
30 cases in each group. Both groups were given anti-PD western medicine treatment
while the treatment group was also treated with Zishen Yisui Decoction. Both groups were treated for 3 months. Before and after treatment
PD-QOL total score
and scores of dimension I and II( PD-QOL-Ⅰ
PD-QOL-Ⅱ) were assessed
so were the Parkinson’s Disease Comprehensive Rating Scale( UPDRS) total score
and Dimensions II and III( UPDRS-Ⅱ
III) scores. The correlations between PD-QOL-Ⅰ
PD-QOL-Ⅱ and PD-QOL total scores and UPDRS-Ⅱ
UPDRS-Ⅲ and UPDRS total scores were analyzed before and after treatment. Results After treatment
in the treatment group
PD-QOL total score
PD-QOL-Ⅰ and PD-QOL-Ⅱ scores
UPDRS total score
UPDRS-Ⅱ and UPDRS-Ⅲ scores decreased after treatment( P < 0. 05 or P < 0. 01); the PD-QOL total score
PD-QOL-Ⅰ and PD-QOL-Ⅱ scores
UPDRS total score and UPDRS-Ⅱ score were lower than those in the control group( P < 0. 05 or P < 0. 01). Before treatment
there was no significant correlation between UPDRS-Ⅰ and PDQOL total score
PD-QOL-Ⅰ
PD-QOL-Ⅱ
between UPDRS-Ⅱ and UPDRS total score( P > 0. 05)
while all other indicators had positive correlations( P < 0. 05). After treatment
there was no significant correlation between PDQOL-Ⅱ and UPDRS-Ⅰ
between UPDRS-Ⅱ and UPDRS total score( P > 0. 05)
while all other indicators showed positive correlations( P < 0. 05). Conclusion As an adjuvant therapy
Zishen Yisui Decoction could improve the quality of life of PD patients.
