Metaphorical Analysis of Etiology,Pathogenesis, and Treatment of “Hives”
this paper observed the clinical manifestations of "hives"
expounded its etiology
pathogenesis
principles and treatment
and explored the metaphorical features of them to find the possible cognitive roots of various treatments.Starting from the name and clinical manifestations of "hives"
the wind in different seasons of nature and the phenomena caused by wind are taken as the original domain
while the clinical manifestations of hives are taken as the target domain
and the "pathogenic wind" experienced by human is recognized through the natural wind of the original domain.Wind from the nature has obvious seasonality
and people can obviously perceive the differences of the wind in different seasons. The wind and the natural phenomena associated with wind produced by the nature are likely to be the cognitive root of "wind-cold
wind-dampness
wind-heat
and wind-dryness"in traditional Chinese medicine. The protection against wind and accompanying phenomena is likely to be the starting point for the treatment of hives.
