Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of umbilical moxibustion therapy on diarrhea type irritable bowel syndrome with stagnation of liver qi and spleen deficiency. Methods A total of 60 patients were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group
with 30 cases in each group. The treatment group took the Shenque acupoint(RN8) moxibustion with medicinal cake
once a day
5 times a week. The control group was given oral administration of pivibromide
50 mg each time
3 times a day
and both groups were treated 4 weeks as a course. After treatment
the systemic symptoms were observed and the self-rating anxiety scale and self-rating depression scale were scored to evaluate the clinical efficacy. The recurrence was observed after 3 months of follow-up.Results The total effective rate of the treatment group was 93.3%(28/30)
which was superior to that of the control group(73.3%
22/30
P<0.05).Recurrence rate after 3 months was 42.9% of treatment group(12/28)
which was significantly lower than that of the control group(90%
18/20
P<0.05).The scores of systemic symptoms
anxiety self-rating scale and depression self-rating scale after treatment were significantly lower than those before treatment(P<0.05).The scores of systemic symptoms
anxiety self-rating scale and depression self-rating scale after treatment in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Umbilical moxibustion therapy for diarrhea type irritable bowel syndrome with stagnation of liver qi and spleen deficiency is superior to pivalobromide tablets
and it can improve patients’ emotional factors and have a low recurrence rate.
