Discussion on Theoretical Sources of “Therapeutic Effects of Herbs Based on Shapes” and the Preliminary Construction of Its Medicinal System
"Therapeutic effects of herbs based on shapes"is proposed by XU Lingtai
which is a summary of the medication used by the parts. On the basis of reviewing the theoretical sources of "therapeutic effects of herbs based on shapes"
this paper explored the theoretical basis of"therapeutic effects of herbs based on shapes"
and the application mindset of four Chinese herbs: medlar
perilla
mulberry and lotus was discussed from the view of metaphorical cognition. In the discussion
the following corresponding relationships were summarized
i. e. the roots of the Chinese herbs are mostly applied to the organs of human body;the skins of herbs are mostly applied to the body surface of human body;the stems are mostly applied to the gastrointestinal tract of human body;the branches of herbs are mostly applied to the limbs of human body;the seedlings and flowers of herbs are mostly applied to human body surface;the fruits and seeds of herbs are mostly applied to the eye disease and reproductive system disease. Thus
the rationality of the ancient Chinese people’ s medication theory
such as "the skin of herbs treats skin disease
the herbs’ section treats human joint disease
the herbs’ kernals treat testicular disease
the herbs’ seeds treat eye disease
the herbs’ vines treat tendons and vascular disease
and the herbs’ branches treat limbs problems"
was proven. The preliminary construction of its medicinal system is achieved.
