Objective To determine the recommended syndrome types of Clinical Practice Guideline on Traditional Chinese Medicine Alone or Combined with Antibiotics for Patients with Community Acquired Pneumonia（ hereinafter referred to as Guideline）. Methods Data in databases such as China Knowledge Network

VIP Database

PubMed

and Cochrane Library from the database establishment to March 1

2017 were searched. The relevant monographs were consulted to collect community-acquired pneumonia（ wind-warm lung-heat disease） guidelines

the experience of famous doctors

and the randomized controlled trials（ RCT） literature on the types of syndromes in the frequency statistics. The results were evaluated by experts and 3 rounds of Delphi method questionnaires to form the recommended traditional Chinese medicine（ TCM） syndromes of the Guideline. Results There were respectively 8 papers in the Guideline and in the master’s experience

each involving 14 types of syndromes. A total of138 RCT documents involving 22 types of syndromes. After the synthesis

13 kinds of high-frequency TCM syndromes were obtained

and 9 common TCM syndrome types were formed by expert scoring including syndrome of wind-heat invading lung

syndrome of external cold and internal heat

syndrome of phlegm-heat obstructing lung

syndrome of lung stagnation and blockade of phlegm-damp

syndrome of qi and yin deficiency

syndrome of qi deficiency of lung and spleen

syndrome of lung heat and fu-viscera excess

syndrome of interior invasion of pathogen and vital qi collapse and syndrome of heat invading pericardium. The final syndrome recommendation of the 3 rounds of Delphi’s expert investigation lasted 3 syndrome types including the syndrome of wind-heat invading lung

syndrome of phlegmheat obstructing lung

and syndrome of qi and yin deficiency

and severe pneumonia of community aquired pneumonia was specially listed. The remaining 6 types of syndromes were listed in the modification of these 4 categories.Conclusion The recommended syndrome types in the Guideline are syndrome of wind-heat invading lung

syndrome of phlegm-heat obstructing lung

and syndrome of qi and yin deficiency.
