Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Characteristics of Parkinson’s Disease Complicated with Functional Constipation
Objective To investigate the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndromes of Parkinson’s disease(PD) complicated with functional constipation. Methods A total of 296 patients with PD were divided into constipation group(123 cases) and non-constipation group(173 cases) according to the diagnostic criteria of functional constipation. The TCM syndrome scores of both groups were measured using PD-Pattern Element Scale-13(PD-PES-13). The TCM syndrome scores and syndrome distribution frequency of two groups were compared
and the risk of TCM syndromes on PD complicated with functional constipation was calculated by Logistic regression. Results The scores of kidney deficiency
qi deficiency
yin deficiency
marrow reduction
yang hyperactivity
internal heat and liver wind in the constipation group were significantly higher than those in the non-constipation group(P < 0. 05). The distribution frequency of kidney deficiency
yin deficiency
yang hyperactivity
internal heat and liver wind in the constipation group was significant higher than that the non-constipation group(P < 0. 05).Analysis of the risk of PD constipation by TCM syndrome showed that PD constipation occurrence had positive correlation yin deficiency(r = 1. 006
P = 0. 001)
yang hyperactivity(r = 0. 748
P = 0. 003)
internal heat(r = 0. 747
P = 0. 003)
liver wind(r = 0. 733
P = 0. 008)
and kidney deficiency(r = 0. 516
P = 0. 031). Conclusion The TCM syndromes of patients with PD complicated with function constipation are mainly yin deficiency
