Objective To observe the effects of Yiqi Jianpi Huayu Qutan Formula（益气健脾化瘀祛痰方） on the exploring behavioral of Bama mini pigs with spleen deficiency and phlegm turbidity syndrome of atherosclerosis（AS）.Methods A total of 26 Bama mini pigs were divided into two group

i.e.5 in a normal group and 21 in a surgical group.The normal group was given a basic diet and the surgical group was given high fat diet.The mini pigs of the surgical group underwent coronary balloon compression with strain in the 2 nd week.21 mini pigs were randomly divided into a model group

a Chinese medicine group and a western medicine group

with 7 pigs in each group.The running overwork training for mini pigs in each operation group from the 4 th week was added to establish AS with spleen deficiency and phlegm turbidity syndrome model

except for the normal group

for 4 weeks.After 24 weeks

the model was evaluated.The Chinese medicine group was given Yiqi Jianpi Huayu Qutan Formula（1.625 g/kg/d）.The western medicine group was fed isosorbide mononitrate sustained-release tablets 1.142 mg/（kg·d）.After 24 weeks

the monitoring instruments were used to observe the exploring behaviors of the mini pigs

biting companions

arching items

arching companions

smelling articles

and smelling companions.Results Compared with the normal group

the frequency of biting companions and arching items in the model group was decreased

and the difference was statistically significant（P<0.05）.Compared with the model group

the frequency of exploring behaviors of the Chinese medicine group and the western medicine group showed a rising trend.However

the difference was not statistically significant（P > 0.05）.The Chinese medicine group was more frequent than the western medicine group in biting

arching and smelling items

and the difference of biting items was statistically significant（P<0.05）.Conclusion Yiqi Jianpi Huayu Qutan Formula can increase exploring behavioral activities of AS mini pigs with the spleen deficiency and phlegm turbidity syndrome

and the improvement of exploring behavior of mini pigs is more significant than that of isosorbide mononitrate sustained-release tablets.
