Clinical Observation on Huafeng Dan( 化风丹) Combined with Mecobalamine and Acupuncture in Treating 36 Cases of Idiopathic Facial Paralysis of Wind-Phlegm Obstructing Collaterals Type
Objective To observe the clinical effects of Huafeng Dan( 化风丹) combined with mecobalamine and acupuncture on idiopathic facial paralysis of wind-phlegm obstructing collaterals syndrome. Methods A total of 72 patients with idiopathic facial paralysis of wind-phlegm obstructing collateral syndrome were randomly divided into a treatment group( 36 cases) and a control group( 36 cases). Both groups were treated with routine treatment of mecobalamine and acupuncture. The treatment group was added with Huafeng Dan on the basis of routine treatment
10 pills each time
3 times a day. The treatment course of both group was 20 days. The House-Brackmann facial nerve functional grading( H-B grading)
the total score of facial paralysis symptoms and signs
and adverse reactions of both groups were compared to evaluate the clinical efficacy. Results After treatment
the H-B grading of the treatment group was mainly grade Ⅰ( 55. 56%) and grade Ⅱ( 30. 56%)
while that of the control group was mainly gradeⅠ( 25. 00%)
grade Ⅱ( 47. 22%) and gradeⅢ( 16. 67%). There were significant differences in the composition ratio of H-B grading between groups( P < 0. 05); the score of symptoms and signs of facial paralysis of the treatment group was lower than that of the control group( P < 0. 05); there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions( P > 0. 05); the total effective rate of the treatment group was 94. 45%
which was better than that of the control group( 88. 89%)( P < 0. 05). Conclusion On the basis of conventional mecobalamine and acupuncture treatment
combined use of oral administration of Huafeng Dan can improve the clinical effects of idiopathic facial paralysis of wind-phlegm obstructing collaterals syndrome.
