Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of lingnan chen′s blood-letting puncture combined with oral administration of Er′miao Powder（二妙散） in the treatment of acute gouty arthritis with dampness heat accumualtion syndrome. Methods A total of 90 patients with acute gouty arthritis of dampness heat accumualtion syndrome were randomly divided into a Lingnan Chen′s blood-letting puncture group

a Ermiao Powder group

a Lingnan Chen′s blood-letting puncture combined with Ermiao Powder group

with 30 cases in each group. The Lingnan Chen′s blood-letting puncture group selected the xi-cleft points of the meridians where the local pain and bilateral lesions were located to prick collaterals and cupping

once every other day

for totally 3 times. The Ermiao Powder group was given oral administration of Ermiao Powder

one dose per day

for totally 6 days. The combination of Lingnan Chen′s blood-letting puncture and Ermiao Powder group was given Lingnan Chen′s blood-letting puncture and oral administration of Ermiao Powder treatment. The levels of erythrocyte sedimentation rate（ESR）

C-reaction protein（CRP）

and uric acid（UA） were measured before and after treatment

and the pain was scored by visual analogue scale（VAS）. The clinical efficacy of the 3 groups was compared after treatment. Results The ESR

UA levels and VAS scores of patients in three groups were significantly decreased after treatment（P<0.05）; ESR

and VAS scores of patients in the Lingnan Chen′s blood-letting puncture and Ermiao Powder group were significantly reduced after treatment compared with Lingnan Chen′s blood-letting puncture group and Ermiao Powder group（P<0.05）. The clinical effect（90.0%） of Lingnan Chen′s blood-letting puncture and Ermiao Powder group was better than that of Lingnan Chen′s Blood-letting puncture group（20.0%） and Ermiao Powder group（73.3%）（P<0.05）. Conclusion Lingnan Chen′s blood-letting puncture combined with oral administration of Ermiao Powder has sure curative effect in the treatment of acute gouty arthritis with dampness heat accumualtion syndrome and has better effects than the other two methods alone.
