LI Saimei′s Experience in Treating Diabetes of Yang Deficiency and Yang Hyperactivity Syndrome
This paper introduces LI Saimei′s experience in treating diabetes. It is believed that in addition to dryness-heat due to yin deficiency syndrome
yang deficiency and yang hyperactivity syndrome is also a common type of diabetes
especially for patients living in the south of Qinling
whose constitution is usually yin deficiency. Clinically
treatment of soothing stagnation and purging fire as well as conducting fire back to its origin is applied. And the treatment is performed according to three levels: yang hyperactivity superior to yang deficiency
yang hyperactivity equal to yang deficiency
and yang deficiency superior to yang hyperactivity. Moreover
during the course of disease
stagnation and stasis occur after long-term illness. Therefore
liver-soothing
qi-regulating
blood-activating and stasis-resolving medicines can be added into the prescriptions.
