Study on the Action Mechanisms of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the Intervention of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19): Based on the Literature
National Health Commission and National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine recommend integrated Chinese and western medicine for the treatment of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19). At present
the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) and its compounds for the clinical prevention and treatment of COVID-19 are complex and diverse
and the therapeutic mechanisms of TCM intervention are not clear. Through the analysis of the formulations applied in the treatment of COVID-19 in different stages
it is found that the possible mechanisms are to reduce the expression of inflammatory factors
inhibit cytokine storms
reduce the accumulation of oxidative stress free radicals and cell apoptosis
and improve the immune functions of the body
so that TCM play a role in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19. The potential mechanisms of TCM intervention in COVID-19 are discussed in order to provide references for subsequent clinical treatment and drug development.
