WANG Qi′s Experience in Treating Insomnia Based on Body, Disease and Syndrome Differentiation
Professor WANG Qi believes that the pathogenesis of insomnia is the imbalance of yin and yang
disharmony between nutrient qi and defensive qi. Self-prepared Jiaohe Anhun Decoction(交合安魂汤) is made to blend yin and yang and to reconcile nutrient qi and defensive qi. Seven common syndrome types of insomnia including phlegm-heat obstruction
blood stasis obstruction
yin and blood deficiency
restless of heart and gallbladder
liver stagnation and blood deficiency
liver-stomach disharmony
heart-kidney incompatibility are summarized
and prescriptions are selected based on the syndrome types. The most common physiques for insomnia are qi stagnation and blood stasis. It is proposed that the clinical syndrome is centered on the constitution
combined with body
disease and syndrome differentiation
and flexible treatment. Meanwhile the author emphasizes that the medication time is from 16:00 to 17:00 and 21:00.
