Clinical Observation on Modified Guizhi Decoction (桂枝汤) for the Treatment of 30 Cases of Cold Type Urticaria with Syndrome of Superficies Tightened By Wind-cold
Objective To observe the clinical effect and safety of modified Guizhi Decoction(桂枝汤) on cold type urticaria of superficies tightened by wind-cold. Methods A total of 60 cases of patients with cold type urticaria of superficies tightened by wind-cold were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group
with 30 cases in each group. The treatment group received modified Guizhi Decoction for treatment
one dose per day
while the control group was orally given cetirizine hydrochloride tablets
10 mg each time
once a day. Both groups were treated for 28 days. Before treatment and on the 7 th
14 th
and 28 th day of treatment
patients were scored on the degree of itching
number of wheal
diameter of wheal
duration
and frequency of attacks
and the clinical efficacy was determined. Results The markedly effective rate was 96.67% in the treatment group and 80.00% in the control group
and the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05). Compared within group before treatment
the degree of pruritus
the number of wheal
the diameter of wheal
and the duration of both groups were reduced on the 7 th
14 th
and 28 th day of treatment(P<0.05). Frequency of attacks was reduced on the 7 th
14 th and 28 th day in the treatment group and on the 14 th and 28 th day in the control group(P<0.05). The degree of pruritus
the number of wheal
the duration of attacks
and the frequency of attacks in the treatment group on the 14 th day were lower than those on the 7 th day(P<0.05); while the degree of pruritus
diameter of wheal
duration and frequency of attacks on the 14 th day were lower than those on the 7 th day(P<0.05). On the 28 th day
degree of pruritus
diameter of wheal in the treatment group
frequency of attacks in the control group was lower than those on the 14 th day(P<0.05). Compared with the control group at the same time
the differences were statistically significant in wheal diameter
duration
attack frequency on the 7 th day
degree of pruritus
the number of wheal
attack frequency on the 14 th day
and itching degree
the number of wheal
wheal diameter
duration
frequency of attack on the 28 th day(P<0.05). Conclusion Modified Guizhi Decoction is safe and effective for cold type urticaria of tightened by wind-cold and can improve clinical symptoms.
