Retrospective Analysis of 2-year Survival Status of Patients with Primary Liver Cacinoma in Early and Mid-term Treated with Fuzheng Jiedu Xiaoji Fomula (扶正解毒消积方) and Its Influence on Neutrophil to Lymphocyte Ratio
Objective To investigate the effects of Fuzheng Jiedu Xiaoji Fomula(扶正解毒消积方) on two-year survival status of patients with primary hepatic carcinoma(PHC) in early and middle stages
and its possible mechanism. Methods Retrospective analysis was done on 76 cases of early and mid-term PHC patients diagnosed for the first time and followed up for more than two years by Center of Integrative Medicine
Beijing Ditan Hospital
Capital Medical University. The patients were assigned into a Fuzheng Jiedu Xiaoji Fomula group and a western medicine treatment group according to different treatment methods. The mortality of both groups
neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio(NLR) before treatment and at 6
12
18
and 24 months of treatment were compared. Results The two-year mortality rate of Fuzheng Jiedu Xiaoji Fomula group was 12.7%
lower than that of western medicine group(33.3%
P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in NLR levels in the Fuzheng Jiedu Xiaoji Decoction group at 6
12
and 18 months of treatment compared with that before treatment(P>0.05)
while it was significantly higher than that before treatment at 24 months of treatment(P<0.05). In the western medicine treatment group
NLR was significantly higher at 6
12
18
and 24 months of treatment than before treatment(P<0.05). The NLR level in the Fuzheng Jiedu Xiaoji Fomula group was significantly lower than that of the western medicine treatment group at 6
12
18
and 24 months(P<0.05). Conclusion Fuzheng Jiedu Xiaoji Fomula can improve the two-year survival rate of patients with primary heapatic cancer in the early and middle stages
and regulating and maintaining NLR levels might be one of its important mechanisms.
