Thinking on Myocardial Injury in Coronavirus Disease 2019 Based on Endogenous Collateral Wind Theory
Myocardial injury is a common complication of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)
which increases the severity and mortality of patients. Cytokine storm is the important pathogenesis. Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) summaries COVID-19 as cold-damp plague toxin. According to the characteristics of its onset and four seasons evolutionary phases
the pathogen has the characteristics of the wind pathogen. The pathogenesis theory of "endogenous collateral wind" is widely used in the field of cardiovascular disease. It is believed that COVID-19 related myocardial injury is caused by external winds leading to internal winds
disturbing cardiac collaterals and passing back to the heart. TCM treatment of COVID-19 related myocardial injury is mainly based on the treatment of "dispelling wind" and "extinguishing wind". Meanwhile
"wind drugs" have also been widely used in the diagnosis of COVID-19
which proves that "endogenous collateral wind" is of theoretical and practical value in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 related myocardial injury.
