Tai Chi-based Traditional Chinese Medicine Exercises in Cardiac rehabilitation
Exercise is the core of cardiac rehabilitation; therefore
exercise-based rehabilitation may help reduce the incidence and mortality of cardiovascular diseases. Currently
the international guideline of cardiac rehabilitation has not yet reached a consensus on the exercise intensity and exercise detection
regarding the discrepancy between different countries and regions. This paper aimed to summary the research evidence on Tai Chi-based traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) exercises for cardiac rehabilitation. The result showed that the TCM exercise intensity was moderate
and the intervention process was safe
the risks of cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension
hyperlipidemia could be reduced. Besides the effect on physical health
doing TCM exercises could reduce anxiety and depression by increasing the exercise capacity. Moreover
TCM exercises played an important role in managing cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease
chronic heart failure
and atrial fibrillation
by improving quality of life and decreasing incidence and mortality. In conclusion
TCM exercises including Tai Chi
Baduanjin and other types
to a certain degree
are acceptable
feasible and economical for cardiac rehabilitation
and thus can provide ideas for the development and promotion of cardiac rehabilitation exercises.
