Professor LU Zhizheng′s Experience for Treatment of Hypertension through Spleen-Kidney Regulation Theory
This paper summarized professor LU Zhizheng′s experience for treatment of hypertension through spleen-kidney regulation theory. Professor LU believes that unhealthy lifestyle and diet may contribute to the onset of hypertension; the root of the disease is spleen-kidney depletion
while the branches of the disease include damp
turbid
phlegm and stasis. The treatment method should involve regulation of spleen and kidney
specifically reflected as fortifying spleen and assisting transportation
dissolving phlegm and moving qi
nourishing kidney and subduing yang
calming the liver and extinguishing wind
warming and supplementing the spleen and kidney
dissolving rheum and unblocking the collaterals. The properties and actions of herbs should be fully considered to make prescriptions by balancing between movement and static
as well as between the ascending and the descending. Fusion of the ancient and the modern
and the integration of acupuncture and herbal medicine
are highly recommended to be adopted to treat hypertension.
