Discussion on Blood Vessels Regulating Method of Traditional Chinese Medicine for Graves′ Disease from Perspective of Angiogenesis Inhibition
Thyroid is considered to be full of qi and blood in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)
and its physiological function is closely related to blood vessels. Abnormal function of thyroid blood vessels may lead to the occurrence of Graves′ disease(GD). It is believed that the main pathological factors of Graves′ disease are fire
phlegm and stasis
the formulation of GD is closely related to thyroid angiogenesis. The basic TCM treatment methods for GD are all related to the regulation of blood vessels. Pharmacological studies have also shown that commonly used Chinese herbs for GD
such as Xiakucao(Spica Prunellae) and Tubeimu(Rhizoma Bolbostematis) Fritillaria vulgaris
have the effect of inhibiting angiogenesis. Therefore
the inhibition of thyroid angiogenesis may be one of the mechanism of blood vessels regulating method for GD.
