Effect of Erhuang Quzhi Granules(二 黄 祛 脂 颗 粒) on Liver Function and Blood Lipids in Patients with Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
To explore the effectiveness and safety of Erhuang Quzhi Granules(二黄祛脂颗粒) on liver function and blood lipids in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD). Methods Totally 110 NAFLD patients were randomized into treatment group and control group
with 55 patients in each group. Comprehensive treatment including diet control
proper exerciese
weight control and vitamin E administration(0.5 g per time
three times daily) was given to patients in both groups. Additionally
self-made Erhuang Quzhi Granules(one dose daily) was given to treatment group
while polyene phosphatidylcholine capsules(228 mg each capsule
two capsules per time
three times daily) were given to control group; patients in both groups took three courses of treatment
as one month of each course. The indicators related to liver function including alanine aminotransferase(ALT)
aspartate aminotransferase(AST)
gamma glutamyl transpeptidase(GGT) and blood lipids including triglycerides(TG)
high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)
and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) were tested before and after treatment to assess the clinical effects
and the adverse events were recorded. Results In the treatment group
27 cases were cured; 14 cases were markedly effective; 9 cases were effective; and 5 cases were ineffective; the total effective rate was 90.90%. Correspondingly
the results in the control group were 15 cases
12 cases
9 cases
19 cases
and 65.45%. There was significant difference between groups in the clinical effects
with results in favor of treatment group(P<0.05). The levels of ALT
AST
GGT
TG
TC and LDL-C were significantly reduced
while HDL-C level increased in both groups after treatment when compared to those before treatment(P<0.05); and more changes were seen in treatment group than in control group(P<0.05). There were no adverse events in both groups. Conclusion Erhuang Quzhi Granules can improve liver function and regulate blood lipid levels in patients with NAFLD
