Professor FANG Yaozhong 's Experience in Treating Primary Epilepsy with Five-step Syndrome Differentiation and Treatment Method
This paper summarizes professor FANG Yaozhong's experience in treating epilepsy with the five-step method of syndrome differentiation and treatment. He proposes that the primary epilepsy can be divided into three types according to the clinical manifestations
of which liver (gallbladder)
heart
and liver plus heart are the primary disease locations
respectively; and the main pathogenesis of the three types were all deficiency of
qi
and
yin
. Regarding the type of liver as the primary disease location
tremors and convulsions are the main manifestations
and may lead to counter-restriction by spleen and over-restriction by lung; patients with mental symptoms such as dizziness and emotional dysphoria usually have the primary disease location at heart
which may bring counter-restriction by lung and over-restriction by kidney; if the disease location is at both liver and heart
disharmony among five

he advocates to identify the root
