Correlation between Micro-inflammatory State and Dampness Syndrome in Traditional Chinese Medicine
Micro-inflammatory state is commonly seen in multiple chronic diseases, and the essence is immune inflammation. Dampness syndrome is a common clinical syndrome of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), whose pathogenesis and clinical manifestations are highly similar to the micro-inflammation state. This paper summarized the similarities between TCM dampness syndrome and micro-inflammation state in the macroscopic appearance and pathogenesis characteristics based on the previous research results, and explored the correlations between them from the perspectives of modern diseases such as obesity, chronic kidney disease, and coronary atherosclerotic heart disease; moreover, the possible relations on biological mechanism were investigated from the perspectives of intestinal flora, water and lipid metabolism, inferring that the micro-inflammatory state may be one important manifestation of the pathological changes of TCM dampness syndrome.
