The Proposal of the Symptom Standardization System and its Theoretical Origin
This study clarified that the nature of symptoms is an enumeration of a series of mental or material, micro or macro manifestations caused by abnormal human life activities and the relationship between these manifestations and time, space, and objects. These descriptions are independent of each other, simple and objective, and should not be subjected to any medical processing, nor should they be abstracted and generalized. From the three aspects including symptom description granularity, symptom standardization tasks, and symptom identification and classification standards, the phased research focus of symptom standardization is clarified, and the symptom standardization system is proposed, including physical symptoms, mental symptoms, sensory symptoms, functional symptoms, tendency symptoms, and triggering symptoms based on ancient books and modern clinical experience. It provides an innovative methodological reference for the standardization of traditional Chinese medicine symptoms and the intelligent diagnosis.
