Pattern Characteristics of Cancer Toxin in treatment of Tumors in Traditional Chinese Medicine
Patterns are indispensable parts of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theories. Based on the disease mechanism theory of cancer toxin, and from the clinical perspective of cancer toxin as a specific pathogenic factor leading to the generation and development of tumors, it is considered that the cancer toxin patterns are specific, concurrent, crossed and variable, and the corresponding connotation is explained. Due to the four characteristics of cancer toxin patterns, it is suggested to combine multiple treatment methods, use compound formulas, and intervene with multiple stages as the basic strategy; additionally, the superior model combining pattern differentiation and disease differentiation, and the method of “treating the same disease in many different ways” and “treating many different diseases in the same way” based on TCM patterns can be used, providing references for development of pattern differentiation and treatment model having more specific focus on TCM.
