Survival and Follow-up Visit Condition of Patients with Small Cell Lung Cancer Treated by Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine based on the Internet Plus Traditional Chinese Medicine Chronic Disease Management Model
To analyze survival and follow-up visit condition of patients with small cell lung cancer (SCLC) treated by integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine based on Internet Plus traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) chronic disease management model.
Methods
2
A cohort study was conducted, where patients with SCLC were included and classified into TCM chronic disease management group (30 cases) and control group (30 cases) according to patients' willingness. The control group was given routine western medicine and oral Chinese herbal medicine, while the TCM chronic disease management group additionally received Internet Plus TCM chronic disease management including file establishment, health education, typical TCM therapy guidance, regular follow-up and family members-patients alliance. Both group of patients all received three months of treatments. After four chemotherapy cycles, the patients were followed up every 3 months, and the last follow-up time was December 31st, 2019. The median survival time (MST), the median progression-free survival(mPFS), and follow-up outcomes (formula adjustment compliance, re-examination compliance, re-exmaination time, data acquisition) were assessed, and the degree of sa-tisfaction for using the chronic disease management platform in patients was evaluated.
Results
2
The MST of the TCM chronic disease management group was (20.97±3.43) months and that of the control group was (18.03±1.91) months; and mPFS of the two groups was (10.17±0.84) months and (7.90±0.33) months, respectively; there were no significant differences between two groups in MST and mPFS (
P
>0.05). Compared to the control group, the TCM chronic disease management group had higher compliance to the formula adjustment, higher rate of re-examination on time, shorter time for formula adjustment, and more timely and completely acquisition of data (
P
<0.05). The positive responses of the feasibility and the satisfaction of the Internet Plus platform usage were 14 (51.9%) and 7 (25.9%), respectively.
Conclusion
2
Integrated traditioanl Chinese and Western medicine benefits the SCLC patients, and the prognosis is better when the Internet Plus TCM chronic disease management model is applied.
